Welcome to CS3000, an introduction to computer networks. Topics include:Introduction to the operation of computer networks. Communication standards and protocols, network layers, data and packet transmission, internetworking, network applications, emerging technologies, software monitoring tools, social and ethical issues. (3 units)
Prerequisite: CS 2500.

| 28 Aug 2026 | We will have a quiz during class time on Monday, 8/31. It will not take all of class time; we will start with more of Chapter 2. Closed book, closed computers. Students may have a 4 x 6 inch card of notes (writing on both sides ok). "Warriors of the Net" (12 min) movie I showed the start of before class today. Some of the words the movie uses are "old school" these days... but the movie is great fun! |
