Mr. Seiji Yamagishi is a distinguished miya daiku (shrine carpenter) who has followed a profession established by his family in the sixteenth century. His ancestor designed the Sazaedou, a temple building featured in this project, and his grandfather carved the dragon that adorns the front of the current structure. Mr. Yamagishi has supervised the construction of many shrines and temples, has played a leadership role in professional associations and in educating skilled artisans, and has received numerous commendations from the governor of Fukushima prefecture and others for his work.
