Assignment 1

Starting now and for the rest of the semester you are to write English for 10 minutes a day (a minimum of four days a week). Start a file in the following required format:

You can write anything* you would like it this file. I will check (skim through) it a couple of times during the semester (with minimal notice) to make sure that you are doing it, but I will not be reading the contents.

The goal of this assignment is to develop a habit of writing, which will help to record interesting thoughts and clarify your thinking.

* "Anything" in English sentences. Not math proofs or computer code or poetry or ...

At a few points in the semester, I may supply a mandatory prompt that a journal entry within a given time range must respond to.(Added 2020 Sept 22, after two announcements in class.)

As Fall 2020 is all virtual, I recommend using a digital format for your writing. Scanning or photographing or videotaping all pages of a paper journal, so that I could see them, would not be a productive use of your time.
