INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTATION SOFTWARE

Presentation Software Assignment One
- (40 points.)

Create a slide show for an oral presentation using MS PowerPoint software. The topic of your presentation and for the slides will be an introduction to who you are. This may include, but is not limited to, your background, your family, your education, your interests, your goals, your job, etc. -- whatever information you wish to share.

You are to select relevant information to place on the slides. These slides will be shown by you during your speech.

The purpose of the slides is to convey information to your audience. This can be with key "bullet points", descriptive text, images, or whatever you choose.

The assignment requires that you create at least five slides.

The first slide (a title slide) will be an introduction to your presentation that must contain your name, and your area of study at CSU Stanislaus.

Include at least one personal photo in your presentation. Additional images are welcome. Clip Art does not count. You may use scanners in L145 or P288 to convert a photograph to a digital image. Instructions are on the scanners and lab assistants are available to help. Scan your image at 100dpi or less. Save the image as a JPG file type.

Your entire presentation must me under 1.0 MB to be graded. Larger presentations will be returned without a grade. It may be necessary to resize images to meet this size limit. Resized presentations received after the due date will be subject to the late penalty.

Check to see that the slides work as a slide show on another computer. Your choice of font and its size may vary from computer to computer, whether Mac or PC. Certain designs will not move correctly from one computer to another as well. It is your responsibility to preview your slideshow prior to your presentation. If possible, test your presentation on a PC computer as that will be the type used in class. It is recommended that you use standard fonts to avoid problems.

Check for correct spelling and grammar.

You are free to use any tools/designs available in PowerPoint. I will not be grading your choices. However, your choices may affect your oral presentation if they make your slides distracting or difficult to read.

Save your presentation as a MS PowerPoint file with the name "<your initials - first, middle & last> _powerpoint1", all lower case (e.g., mjm_powerpoint1.ppt).

E-mail, as an attachment, the assignment to the instructor (mmartin@cs.csustan.edu). CC yourself or save a copy of your sent mail. E-mail "Subject" must be "ClassID PowerPoint One" (without the quotes --
e.g., CS4000-1 PowerPoint One -- capitalization and spacing as shown using your ClassID).

Bring your presentation on CD or USB Drive to class on the due date if you have not received confirmation that I have received and opened your slideshow. If you make last minute changes, that will also require that you have your file on USB Drive or CD.
