CS 1500, Section 002, Monday, April 30, 2001
- Check schedule
- Class starts at 11:15. I take roll at 11:25
- Announcement(s)
- I sent out solo program #3 results (again?)
- I sent out inidividual results on lab #4 to everyone (again?)
- I collected notes on the problems encountered in lab #4, together
with comments and suggestions. That material is posted here:
http://shalim.csustan.edu/~john/Classes/CS1500_Programming_I/Grades/lab04Problems
- I updated the gradesheet file that shows all class grades, indexed
by last 4 digits of student ID. That material is here:
http://shalim.csustan.edu/~john/Classes/CS1500_Programming_I/Grades/gradesheet
- We will have a lab on Friday (more on loops) I'll post directions
soon.
-
- Hand back quizzes to those who did not get them Friday
- Go over answers to quiz
- Discuss character processing (chapter eight)
- Function "GetAnswer" in exe0804.cpp is a nice example of how to use
character processing to do data input while preventing some types of
input errors.
- Somewhere in doing the exercises below, touch on the topic of how
characters are buffered on input and output.
- Do exercises on pages 399-400 to motivate learning some concepts:
choose from 1-8.
- Do exercises on pages 406-407 to motivate learning some concepts:
choose from 1-8, and prog #1 in section 8.2.
- Do exercises on pages 416-417 to motivate learning some concepts:
choose from 1-3, 5-8.
- If time allows it would be interesting to look at the problem of
converting ascii input to an integer using Horner's method. (This
involves an interesting application of loops and also character
processing).
