Title: Applying Gradient Descent And Finite Differences
schemes In Contour Extraction
Abstract: In some cases, the Euler-Lagrange equation can be
solved directly in closed form. In extracting contours from images,
we use numerical techniques. I propose to compare various numerical
methods as tools for computing solutions to the Euler-
Lagrange equation including gradient descent method and finite
differences. In this talk, I will also present experimental
results by using Matlab software.
