CS4000 section 008 & CS4002 section 008

Gives the student the knowledge and experience needed to use a personal computer effectively. A range of computers and software will be available; as much as possible, the student will be able to learn about systems, which are directly usable in his or her area of study. Topics include discussions of computer hardware, the range of capabilities of the personal computer, how to evaluate a piece of software, and how software is written.  Satisfies G.E. area F1.  Co-requisite: CS 4002.  You must be enrolled in both sections.  Prerequisite: Upper-division standing. (Credit may not be given for both CS 2000 and CS 4000.). 

 

Textbook: Computer Confluence: An Introduction.   George Beekman and Michael L. Quinn, 7th Ed., (c)2007.

 

Grading:

Quizzes will be done on-line at blackboard.csustan.edu  The scheduled quiz time is Friday during Lab.   You will be able take the quizzes from Wed. after class until Friday. at 10:00 pm. 

 

Lab Assignments will be linked to the class web page.  When the assignment is given the link will become active.  When you have completed your assignment you will e-mail to dgomez01@charter.net   Assignments are due at midnight on the due date, the e-mail will be the date and time stamp.   10% will deducted each day on late assignments, up to 50%.

 

Quizzes        10 @ 50 pts.          500 pts.

Labs             10 @ 50 pts.           500 pts.

Oral Presentation                       100 pts. 

Total Points                              1100 pts.

 

You can see your current grades at anytime in Blackboard and you should be checking your grades on a regular bases.  There is no need for surprises at the end of the term.  You grades are your responsibility.
